6 Maine peace activists who were charged with Criminal Trespass for refusing
to leave the offices of Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine)in March 2007 have
been found NOT GUILTY in a jury trial that ended this afternoon. They were

with her constituents regarding their concerns about the war/occupation in
Iraq, as part of the national "Project Occupation" actions.
The 6 acquitted today are: Jim Freeman, Doug Rawlings, Robert Shetterly,
Henry Braun, Jon Kreps and Dud Hendrick. Some represented themselves while
others were represented by attorneys Lynne Williams and Phil Worden
WERU-FM's Matt Murphy and Amy Browne covered the occupation of the Senator's
offices and the arrests live in March 2007. Tomorrow morning WERU will host
a special call in show (May 1st, our 20th anniversary!!) from 10-11a.m.
featuring as many of the defendants as are able to attend, and possibly one
of the attorneys. Call in with your questions and comments at (locally):

~Amy
